Welcome to my website. My name is Dave Foster and I collect the Stamps of Brunei.
I am particularly interested in the River and Village stamps. These were first produced in 1907 and, with various changes of watermark, colours, printing methods and perforations, continued to be the definitive stamps of Brunei until 1951.
I decided to create this website so that anyone else who has an interest in these stamps can share information, ask questions, report discoveries and generally expand the existing knowledge of these interesting stamps.
I hope that you enjoy the site. If you have any comments, questions or additional imformation about these stamps, please contact me.
Dave.
P.S.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THE ENGRAVER OF THESE STAMPS? IF YOU DO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. YOU WILL FIND MY DETAILS ON THE CONTACTS PAGE.
DAVE
There are two designs of stamps. The first depicts a view on Brunei River with a canoe in the foreground and village huts in the background. The second design, which was added later, shows Native Houses on the Water Village.
The image above is of a Master Plate Proof of the River Scene design. It is printed on thick paper.
