For the first time with stamps of this design, De La Rue used paper watermarked Multiple Script CA for all the stamps in this issue.
There were two new stamps introduced in this issue. Both used a new design that featured Kanpong Ayer - The Water Village.
Colour Trial for the New Design.
The item above is a colour trial for the new design. It is the 6c stamp, printed in blue.
This shade of blue actually was used for the 12c stamp, with the 6c being printed initially
in black and later in red.
There follows two proofs of the 3c value, printed in indigo.
The stamps in this issue were printed from single plates, except from the 30c and $1 values, which continued to be produced using two plates.
SPECIMEN STAMPS
Unusually, Specimen stamps from this issue were produced either with an overprinted word SPECIMEN,
or with the word perforated in an arc.
Overprinted Specimen, Samuel type D16 just below centre.
